Bathroom Renovations Hampton
From the Edwardian weatherboards and Californian bungalows around Hampton Street to the newer townhouses closer to the station, Hampton’s homes span a century of Melbourne building styles. Peter Conlan Bathrooms has renovated bathrooms in most of them, and our Parkdale workshop is barely ten minutes down the Nepean Highway. The bathrooms pictured below are our work.
Renovating bathrooms in Hampton homes
Bungalow and weatherboard bathrooms are typically modest rooms in the middle of the house, and the biggest gains usually come from the layout: reclaiming space from an oversized hallway or adjoining laundry, replacing a tub-and-shower squeeze with a proper walk-in shower, and using light, coastal palettes that suit a beachside suburb. Where families need more than one bathroom, we also build ensuites into existing floor plans.
In Hampton’s townhouses the structure is newer but the finishes are often builder-basic. A renovation here is about lifting quality: full-height tiling, custom vanities from our master cabinet maker, and fittings chosen to last rather than to a developer’s budget.
Why Peter Conlan Bathrooms
Peter Conlan is a true bathroom expert: a licensed plumber (No. 36230) and licensed builder (VBA DB-L 69674) with more than 30 years in the trade and a portfolio of over 650 bespoke bathrooms across Melbourne’s Bayside.
The service is personal from start to finish. When you call, you speak to Peter, not a salesperson. Peter comes to your door to measure and quote, and during the build he is on site himself, working alongside and overseeing his small team of skilled Bayside tradespeople. Custom vanities are crafted by our own master cabinet maker, so storage is built for your bathroom rather than bought off the shelf.
Quotes are free and without obligation, and can be arranged on weekends to suit your household.
Frequently asked questions
Our bungalow bathroom is tiny. Can you make it feel bigger?
Usually, yes. Reworking the layout, moving to a walk-in shower, wall-hung vanities and better lighting all add usable space and light. Where the floor plan allows, we can also look at borrowing space from an adjacent laundry or hallway.
Can you renovate the bathroom and laundry together?
Yes, and it is often the most efficient approach, since the two rooms usually share plumbing. We renovate laundries across Bayside and can quote both rooms as a single project with one schedule of trades.
Can you add an ensuite to our Hampton home?
In many homes, yes. Feasibility comes down to space and drainage. Peter will assess the floor plan when he visits to quote and give you a straight answer, including what is involved in getting services to the new room.
How do quotes work?
Peter visits your home personally, measures the space, talks through what you want to achieve and provides a free, itemised quote with no obligation. Weekend visits can be arranged.

THE CHALLENGES
Bathroom with shower, ensuite with bath and powder room in townhouse. Design also required creative solutions to make best use of restricted space. With this bathroom refresh, the home is market-ready for potentially selling in the near future.
